Fall Festival at Houston Mennonite Church!

Updated: Oct 18

A flyer reading "Fall Festival October 26 from 10 am to 2 pm Houston Mennonite Church" and decorated with fall vegetables

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. you are invited to Houston Mennonite Church, 1231 Wirt Road, Houston TX 77055 for a time of fun, fellowship, games, sharing, and food.

We have intentionally invited the five Anabaptist congregations of Houston to this time of celebrating a common faith heritage, but anyone is welcome, especially if you are curious about Anabaptists, Mennonites, and Brethren in Christ folks from a variety of backgrounds. We are praying for a rich time of fellowship.

Here are the congregations participating:

Casa del Alfarero, Pasadena area - an established primarily Spanish-speaking congregation with pastors Aurora and Alberto Parchmont.

Chin Emmanuel Baptist Church with minister Rev. Dr. S. Lianhmung Tlumang, a community of Chin people who gather to worship God.

Houston Mennonite Church - a primarily English-speaking Mennonite congregation planted by Kansas Mennonites in 1968.

Iglesia Menonita Casa de Restauración, a church-planting effort in Houston, meeting in homes, led by church planting pastors Aurora and Alberto Parchmont.

MeetingHouse Houston (Brethren in Christ), a collection of smaller communities that meet regularly throughout the month in homes to intentionally do life together with collective gatherings twice a month. Led by co-pastors Chilobe Kalambo and Cherish Hamilton.

Here’s the schedule:

10:00 a.m. - Games for all ages, indoors and outdoors. There is a small playground for younger children and a children's room and nursery inside the church building. Feel free to come in costume!

12:00 p.m. - Potluck Meal! Bring a dish to share. Prior to the meal we will say a prayer and enjoy a meal together. We would like to hear a very brief report from each church on how their church is doing. After lunch there will be more games and visiting.

During the gathering we are planning to have some Fair Trade items for sale. You may find some coffee, chocolate, Palestinian soap, tea, Christmas ornaments or other items that catch your interest.
